Parenting support for mothers who have been in prison appears to have a positive effect on the women themselves and on their growing children. Up to ten years after the intervention, it appears that these ex-prisoner mothers made the mistake again less often than women who did not participate in the programme, writes Minister Franc Weerwind (Legal Protection) in a letter to the House of Representatives. Their children also show less criminal and problem behaviour.
