Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open Vld) resigns as Minister of Justice in the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Brussels. He just announced this during a press conference at his cabinet. Tunisia requested the extradition of terrorist Abdesalem Lassoued last year, but the competent magistrate did not comply. “A gross, individual mistake with dramatic consequences,” said Van Quickenborne. “As Minister of Justice I cannot intervene before a magistrate,” he added. But Van Quickenborne wants to take his political responsibility and therefore submitted his resignation.
