Minister Ben Weyts invests more than 8.5 million euros in West Flemish schools
Weyts is now investing more than €8.5 million in 18 school building projects across West Flanders. With these construction projects, hundreds of students will be able to spend their lessons in brand new or renovated school buildings.
AGION (Agency for Infrastructure in Education) offers financial support to school boards from subsidized education for construction or renovation works. Flanders is allocating three billion euros to renew and expand school infrastructure. That is half a billion euros extra compared to the previous term of office.
Largest investment in Ostend
Free Primary School – Westdiep and Free Kindergarten in Ostend invest 4 million euros in new construction, environmental works and initial equipment. Which gives room for 399 students. In Torhout, Sint-Rembert 1, Sint-Rembert 2 and Sint-Rembert 3 Middle Schools are realizing the renovation and repurposing of the existing chapel, buildings in blocks 3, 4 and 5 and landscaping for 938 pupils with €2.9 million. Vrije Basisschool – De Wijzer Zonnebeke in Zonnebeke will receive €529,000 for renovation and environmental works for 250 pupils. In Heule (Kortrijk), Vrije Kinderschool – Spes Nostra is renewing the exterior joinery with €110,000.
