Vetements now also designs clothing for children.
The Swiss fashion label’s signature T-shirts and main collection are now also available in children’s sizes. This was reported by the US trade magazine WWD after a visit to the Vetement showroom in Paris on Saturday.
In addition to the brand’s inclusive size range, which extends up to 16XXL, it has released mini versions of its collections for children aged four and up. However, some of these have been made ‘child-friendly’. The characteristic anarchy symbol was given a heart border and the raised middle fingers were replaced by a peace sign.
In addition, jeans were decorated with childish doodles or multiple side pockets, according to WWD. Army green bomber jackets, designed in collaboration with US clothing manufacturer Alpha Industries, can also be found in the range.
The brand’s creative director Guram Gvasalia told the magazine that the motivation for the children’s collection was that friends and fans missed “cool” clothes for the little ones and motivated him to remedy the situation.
Vetements was founded in 2014 by the designer duo Demna Gvasalia and Guram Gvasalia. Demna Gvasalia left the brand in 2019to dedicate himself entirely to the creative direction of the Spanish luxury fashion house Balenciaga. In 2021, Guram Gvasalia took on the role of Managing Director in addition to his role as Managing Director Creative Director at Vetements.
