ALLISON’S DINNER
The music of the artists under the Universal Music label will be removed from the Tiktok video service at the beginning of February, reports BBC. The reason for leaving is a dispute between the parties regarding copyright compensation.
The news means that millions of songs would be removed from Tiktok.
Foreign Universal Music artists include Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Drake, Justin Bieber, The Beatles, Adele, Coldplay and Elton John.
The record company operates as a company for several top artists in Finland. For example, Isac Elliot, Bess, Janna, Jannika B, Kuumaa, Mikael Gabriel, Nelli Matula, Popeda, Robin Packalen and a novelty artist Mirella are signed under Universal Music Finland.

The Universal company accuses the Tiktok video service of “bullying”. In addition to this, according to the company, the Chinese social service would only agree to pay a fraction of the fees compared to other social media platforms.
The BBC says that, according to Tiktok, Universal has made “false claims” regarding the topic. This is the first time that the company has banned any music content on its app on such a large scale.
ETIENNE LAURENT
In July of last year, Warner Music, which is the third largest record company in the world, and TikTok signed a new license agreement related to the same topic.
Music companies receive fees in the form of royalties, i.e. license fees. The artist receives royalties when his song is played on streaming and social media platforms.
The Tiktok service is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance.
Universal Music Finland cannot comment on the subject, as the company makes decisions on the matter at an international level.
Jannika B, one of the Finnish artists, immediately commented on the news.
– Feelings when you hear that Musa of you and all the other artists of the Universal record company will disappear from TikTok, because the parties could not reach an agreement on copyright compensation.
