If Microsoft decides to stop distributing free security updates for the Windows 10 operating system as early as 2025 according to its plans, it could mean the end of a huge number of otherwise usable computers.

According to the research company Canalys Research, the end of the support may mean that up to 240 million computers will have to be recycled, news agency Reuters tells.

Even if many computers are still technically usable for years after the support for the latest possible operating system available for them has ended, an outdated and unupdated operating system should not be used for information security reasons.

In such a situation, the Windows user should get a computer that supports the latest operating system.

You can get support with money until 2028

Windows 10’s free support is expected to end in October 2025. Microsoft previously announced its intention to offer paid security updates until 2028 to those who cannot or do not want to update their computer to the Windows 11 operating system.
