For a year and a half now, the transfer poker surrounding Kylian Mbappé has kept large parts of the football world in suspense. The superstar was already at Real Madrid with one and a half legs in the summer of 2022. In 2023, his move was even closer when he was temporarily suspended by Paris Saint-Germain. Nothing has really happened since then. But that is now changing.
As of January 1st, Mbappé has official permission to negotiate with other clubs in accordance with the statutes thanks to his expiring contract. It is an open secret that he will only speak to Real Madrid. The big question is: Will the player and club agree and decide on one of the biggest changes in recent years?
Mbappé Poker: Real terms “non-negotiable”
In the Spanish media, the pulse of “transfer experts” and self-proclaimed “Real insiders” has noticeably increased in recent days. At least two of them agree on the matter. They say: Los Blancos will stick to their course on the matter and demand a final decision from Mbappé by January 15th.
“Real’s conditions are non-negotiable. The date is set and Real will not wait any longer. These conditions were already agreed in 2022 when Mbappé negotiated with the club,” said “Okdiario” reporter Ramón Alvarez de Mon. Alex Alonso, an expert at the club’s close Portal “Bernabeu Digital” assessed the matter similarly.
“If he [Mbappé] If Real officials do not give a clear answer by January 15th, his signing will be completely ruled out by management,” Alonso claimed.
Whether this will actually happen remains to be seen. Water level reports about Mbappé have been available daily since the start of the season, especially in Spain and France. However, the hit rate of the experts and insiders’ predictions is only a fraction as high as that of the superstar on the green lawn.
