Miley Cyrus has been honored at the Grammy Awards for the first time. The singer won two awards with the single “Flowers”.

The song won Best Pop Solo Performance and Single of the Year. In total, Cyrus could hope for a trophy in six categories. “Flowers” was also up for song of the year. However, the prize went to Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” Her collaboration with Brandi Carlile, “Thousand Miles,” was also nominated for Best Pop Performance by a Duo. The accompanying album ENDLESS SUMMER VACATION (2023) was also nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.
“’Flowers’ is my butterfly”
Cyrus accepted the award for Best Pop Song from singer Mariah Carey. Cyrus sometimes used her speaking time to express enthusiasm for Carey. “I got stuck in traffic and was almost late. “I could have missed the award, that would have been okay, but not Mariah Carey,” Cyrus said.
She also told a story about a little boy who wants to catch a butterfly, but gives up after numerous failed attempts. “And just as he does that, the butterfly comes and lands on the tip of his nose,” the singer said on stage. “This song ‘Flowers’ is my butterfly.” She later performed the song live at the celebration.

Miley Cyrus had previously been nominated at the Grammy Awards but never won. In 2015, the jury listed her album BANGERZ (2013) as Best Pop Vocal Album. In 2022, her work as a feature and songwriter on Lil Nas X’ MONTERO (2021) was named in the Album of the Year category. However, she always came away empty-handed.
