Live shows give the singer nothing, because: “There is no connection. There is no security.”
Despite her success with ENDLESS SUMMER VACATION, Miley Cyrus hasn’t planned an extensive tour for her latest album. On the contrary: in an interview, the singer now explains that concerts would give her little and that she would therefore forego live shows. The reason: “There is no connection. There is no safety… It is also not natural. It’s so isolating because when you’re in front of 100,000 people, you’re alone.”
Their last tour, for the BANGERZ record, took place in 2014. And yes: “It’s been a while,” admits the 30-year-old. Why was there radio silence for so long afterwards? Speaking to British Vogue, Cyrus put the gig-aversion like this: “Not only can I do it, I don’t want to either.” She recently asked herself the question: “Do I want to live my life for the pleasure or fulfillment of others or for myself self?”
Her answer to herself: “Singing in front of hundreds of thousands of people is not really what I love.” But while she would find playing in front of strange crowds isolating, she would prefer a show in front of family and friends – or rather, when asked if she would go on tour for a few gigs, she jokes: “Yes, the Aman Hotel tour. I sing in the lobby for a free massage.”
