Miley Cyrus on Tuesday (March 7th) announced the second single release, “River”, from her new album ENDLESS SUMMER VACATION. Cyrus shared a teaser for the music video on her social media channels.
The singer also shared a snippet of her upcoming Backyard sessions on Disney+ yesterday, Wednesday (March 8). Cyrus penned River when she was “being through a lot emotionally and personally.”
Regarding her songwriting process, the singer says that “all the songs kind of evolved. They could grow out of what felt like a never-ending April rainstorm out of trouble, but then it started raining love.”
Little is known about the genre of the new album. “River” is supposed to be a “dance floor banger” according to Cyrus. Last Monday (March 6th) Cyrus announced that ENDLESS SUMMER VACATION would be split into two acts, AM (Day) and PM (Night). The new single will be part of the “dirtier” PM half. As she describes the song, Cyrus smiles mischievously and simply says it’s going to be “nasty.” So the new song may be more reminiscent of their SHE IS COMING era with songs like “Cattitude” than their YOUNGER NOW days.
The album and the new single including the music video will celebrate their premiere this Thursday (March 9th) at midnight our time. The associated Backyard sessions can be seen on Disney+ on Friday (March 10) from 7 p.m.
