Milan: from Locatelli to Colombo, from Bellanova to Tsadjout, the nursery supplies the A.

Daniel Maldini could soon join the list of former Rossoneri Primaveras who have found a team (on loan or outright) in other Serie A clubs

There is a bit of Milan scattered throughout Serie A. After a few gray years, the Rossoneri youth sector has returned to producing interesting players, wards and strikers around the peninsula. From the last on the list such as Colombo, Maldini and Tsadjout to the various Cutrone, Locatelli and Donnarumma, now in Paris. Here are the most important.

In Serie A

Lorenzo Colombo, tip of the 2001, after a good year in Serie B with Spal has signed with Lecce (loan with right of redemption and counter-redemption). At the first test with the Salento he scored a couple of goals. Last year he did well from August to December (all the goals came in this period), so so in the following months, where he also scored a red. In 2020-21, when he was called to replace the injured Ibra, he did well, then he went to play with Cremonese from January onwards (one goal in 13 games). Frank Tsadjout, on the other hand, a striker born in 1999, went to Cremonese after 5 goals in Serie B between Pordenone and Ascoli. With the Rossoneri’s Primavera he scored 17 goals, then turned a bit in search of minutes: Charleroi, Cittadella and finally Cremona. Alvini counts a lot on it.

Maldini

The curtain between father and son in Reggio Emilia was touching. For more than sixty years, in Italian football, there is a Maldini who wins the Scudetto. Cesare, Paolo and now also Daniel, decisive with a goal in La Spezia and with a spike for Ibra against Udinese. After a year of 8 games and 143 ‘played in Serie A, Maldini junior will go on loan to accumulate minutes. Born in 2001, he is ever closer to Verona. Another product of the nursery ended up at Inter instead. Raoul Bellanova will play with Inzaghi after thirteen years in the Rossoneri youth academy. In 2019 he left Milanello to go to Bordeaux, but after a long tour of Italy (Atalanta, Pescara and Cagliari) he signed for the Nerazzurri. A young man in whom Marotta and his associates believe a lot. Besides Calabria, the new captain, another couple of ‘made in Vismara’ guys will be at Pioli’s disposal: they are Matteo Gabbia and Tommaso Pobega, still waiting to know their future.

Gigio and Loca

Abroad we have two other true AC Milan players, from the youth sector to the first team: Gigio Donnarumma, who flew to Paris after 251 appearances with Milan, and Patrick Cutrone, fresh from the loan at Empoli and owned by Wolverhampton. Last year he scored three goals in Serie A. He is still looking for accommodation. Another one of that vintage that was discreetly imposed last year was Giorgio Altare, central defensive from Bergamo who grew up with Cutrone, Pobega and the others ’98. One of what he dubbed Tommy “the wizard” because of his resemblance to Harry Potter. A goal in 19 games with Cagliari in 2021-22. Last on the list, obviously, Manuel Locatelli, European champion today at Juve. The team to which he scored the famous goal with lots of tears at the end of the game.
