Lorenzo Buffon is 93 years old and has had an electrocardiogram to renew his driving licence. “He has always liked driving, they extended it for another year”, says his wife Loredana. He lives in Latisana, Udine. He was the lord of the gates of San Siro. He won four championships with Gre-No-Li’s Milan and one with Helenio Herrera’s Grande Inter. Lorenzo was tall and handsome. He was the tallest of all the goalkeepers of the 1950s and he walked on the pitch and in the street with his stilt-walking legs. There was something dancing in his step. One day Ricardo Martinez Zamora, legendary Spanish goalkeeper, the number one of all number ones, said: “I would like a son like Buffon”.
