Milan, Cardinale arrives: the priority is the stadium question

The Rossoneri owner wants to make a decision on where to build the structure: La Maura remains on pole, but…

Gerry Cardinale is back in town. The founder of RedBird is expected in Milan in the next few days. His priority is very clear: the stadium. Milan want to make a decision on the area in which to build their own stadium by April and the situation is certainly not simple. In recent weeks, the club has especially studied the La Maura area, one kilometer from San Siro: it is the latest arrival on the property table and the most interesting, being in the city, within the Municipality of Milan. Of course, there is no shortage of problems, starting with the protests – strong and immediate – on an environmental theme.

Alternatives

The former Falck area of Sesto San Giovanni, the most logical alternative instead
is at the center of a multi-million dollar battle between Hines, the current owner, and Intesa, the bank that leads the group of lenders. Milan are welcome in Sesto but the question of ownership of the area must be resolved before reaching an agreement. And so, the San Donato and Assago-Rozzano hypotheses remain in the running, with the area owned by the Cabassi family also considered by Inter. An open and rapid match, which Cardinale is conducting in person after the meeting with Mayor Sala on March 1st.
