Milan, Calafiori possible deputy Theo Hernandez

Ballo-Touré close to leaving the club, direction Fulham. We need a full-back who, for reasons related to the Champions League list, has grown up in our country. The Basel player is a candidate, but not fully convincing

The Milan market these days looks a bit like Los Angeles: there’s everything, you just have to choose. If you like chic areas, bet on Beverly Hills and Noah Okafor, who will arrive in LA during the night, around 4 Italian time, at the same time as the start of Milan-Real Madrid. If you are really passionate, however, you must also go to South Central and deal with the left-back dilemma, the strangest case of the AC Milan transfer market. The news immediately: Ballo-Touré will soon stop being assistant to Theo Hernandez, because the agreement with Fulham is not far away. A new reserve will arrive in his place and Riccardo Calafiori is a candidate… who, however, doesn’t convince everyone at Milan.

ITALIAN

The reasoning here is more complex and calls into question the Champions League list. UEFA is asking for a list of 25 players and expects 4 to be trained in the club’s nursery, the other 4 in their home country. Milan only have Calabria, Pobega and Colombo trained in their youth field, because Gabbia should play his last match for the Rossoneri tonight before going on loan to Villarreal. Side note: Colombo will understand in August whether he will stay to play as a third striker or, as more logical for his growth, will go to play elsewhere. The list of players trained in Italy instead includes Sportiello, Mirante and Florenzi. Three slots used out of four. Conclusion: at the moment Milan can register 23 players, not 25. For this reason, the club is looking for a player trained in Italy for the role of reserve full-back.

THE (NOT) CANDIDATES

However, Italian-trained left-backs are not abundant. Juve has asked for 20 million for Cambiaso: more than too much for Milan. Luca Pellegrini earns too much to be a deputy Hernandez. Cristiano Biraghi, who has already been a Pioli player, has just renewed with Fiorentina and, at 30, is not in the ideal parameters of RedBird. Parisi has just gone – he too – to Viola and Valeri is not convincing. And then, everything remains pending and Calafiori is a candidate, with his 34 games (including cups) in the last season at Basel. In the pre-season, while waiting for Theo, Florenzi is playing and this could also be an idea: transfer him to the left and buy a new Italian-trained vice-Calabria. If only it were easy…
