The Hollywood couple stood up for their former colleague in court. That caused dissatisfaction.
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have apologized for their support of Danny Masterson. The couple, who starred alongside Masterson in the sitcom “The Roaring Seventies” from the late 1990s to the mid-2000s, stood up for the now-convicted actor in court. Danny Masterson was sentenced to at least 30 years in prison on September 7, 2023 for two counts of rape.
In a video on Kutcher’s Instagram profile, the couple addressed the public after previously facing heavy criticism. Kunis and Kutcher had written a character statement to the judges in which they defended their ex-actor Danny Masterson. The letter about his supposedly sincere personality was intended to reduce the sentence for the 47-year-old. But Masterson was convicted of raping two women in 2003 and sentenced to 30 years to life in prison. In a third alleged case, there was no guilty verdict.
“We recognize the pain our reputation has caused on behalf of Danny Masterson,” Kutcher begins the video. Mila Kunis then explained: “We support the victims, we have always done this through our work and will continue to do so in the future.” The criticism of the two is also serious because they are involved in the Thorn Foundation, which is for Deploy victims of child abuse and human trafficking. However, Chrissie Bixler, Masterson’s alleged third victim, and comments on social media accused Kutcher and Kunis of hypocrisy.
