Mikko and Kristiina Kekäläinen talked about their work burnout in Anna.

Supplier Mikko Kekäläinen tells in Anna’s interview how her Kristina-his wife’s exhaustion was a hard blow for the whole family.
Kekäläinen had lost his mother unexpectedly and very soon after this, his close stepfather passed away. Kristiina’s exhaustion felt like things were piling up on the man.
– The accumulation of all that was like a swamp, from which I didn’t always know the way forward, he says in the magazine.
His wife’s exhaustion made Kekäläinen fear that exhaustion will take Kristiina away for good.
– Sometimes I wonder how this is going to happen – would he recover? Or would I still lose my wife? Those moments of fear were really heavy, Anna reflects.
Finally, when Kristiina started to feel better, Kekäläinen felt exhausted. For a long time, he had kept his family and everyday life together, and at the same time tried to deal with his own grief about his mother and stepfather.
Kekäläinen tells in the interview how he began to experience physical symptoms similar to his wife’s as his exhaustion progressed. Among them were tremors and feelings of cramps. In the end, he applied for an occupational health psychologist’s course.
– However, the biggest help came from our dear friends who supported us during that time. When my own bottom started to fall out, they reminded me that I don’t need to sink. I understood that I can’t sink with Kristiina, but I have to try to live our everyday life through joy, Kekäläinen sums up.
Kekäläinen has two children with his wife, Intake and Martha. They were seen in the Laulu rakkaudule program, where they wanted to surprise their father with the song For evigt by Volbeat interpreted by Hanna Pakarinen. It is Miko’s “comfort song”, which she has also played to her children as a lullaby with the ukulele.
– Father deserves this surprise because he is the best father in the world, Otto said at the time.
– He loves us so much and we want to show him that we love him a lot, Martta continued.
