Musician Mikko Alatalo71, is finally allowed to record Eric Clapton a classic song Tears In Heaven.
Alatalo wrote the Finnish version of the song Tears in heaven after the passing of his first wife. Downstairs Berry-wife committed suicide in 1992.
Alatalo dealt with his grief by writing and tried to get the song’s translation rights already in the 90s. However, no rights were granted at that time.
– I wrote the song when I was in the middle of grief after the passing of my first wife, Alatalo tells Iltalehte.
Last winter, Alatalo contacted the publishing company once more with the hope of permission to record a meaningful song in Finnish. Now the musician has finally received the translation rights for the song, which will be heard on the album that will be released later in the fall Lapsenusko – Songs of sadness, hope and love.
According to Alatalo Tears in heaven is now even closer to the song’s original lyrics.

Also the original Tears In Heaven – the song’s story is sad. Clapton wrote the song for his son, who tragically died after falling from a skyscraper window at the age of four.
The two sons of Alatalo and his wife Marja also play on the song recorded in the 90s. The song has been meaningful to the whole family.
– I told the friend that this would be an introduction, since I’m making a gospel album and now I got the rights, says Alatalo.
However, according to Alatalo, the more likely reason for granting the rights is that more and more stars have sold the publishing rights of their songs to big publishing companies.
No compensation is paid to Alatalo for the translation, but that does not matter to the musician.
– The song was very important in the 90s. It’s great that we were able to make a farewell song, Alatalo says.
According to Alatalo, the new album is an emotional whole, which he hopes will bring comfort to people who have experienced sorrows.
– There is hope in them. The hope of reunion is strongly present in those songs.
