Mike Krüger picked up Thomas Gottschalk for the finale with the excavator

On Saturday evening (November 25th) Thomas Gottschalk invited people for the last time to “Bet that ..?“. At the end of the show he was surprised with a special exit – a yellow excavator came to pick up “Thommy”.

In keeping with the occasion, the final laudation for Thomas Gottschalk was given by “Wetten, dass ..?” inventor Frank Elstner. “How does a man like Gottschalk get out of here?” he asked. “It doesn’t walk, it’s driven. And how is it driven? With the vehicle, the ‘Bet that…?’ made it big. “You get your own excavator now,” says Elstner.

Then an excavator actually came – and Gottschalk’s old colleague Mike Krüger was standing on it waving. Gottschalk seemed to like this farewell: “Mike, it was always my dream to drive into the sunset with you,” he said – and repeated: “Mike, we’ll drive into the sunset together.”

Gottschalk said goodbye: “Thank you, Offenburg, thank you Germany, thank you Austria, thank you Switzerland. Hello, ciao.” Then Gottschalk was chauffeured along the front row on the excavator’s shovel (which read: “Thank you Thomas”), waving and saying thank you several times.
