Mikaela Shiffrin is working on a comeback after a fall

Mikaela Shiffrin recently crashed in Cortina d’Ampezzo. Now the US alpine director gave details about her health.

It was a huge shock when World Cup record holder Mikaela Shiffrin suddenly fell in Cortina d’Ampezzo, was thrown across the slope and came to a stop in the safety net. She was treated for minutes, then limped away and was taken to the hospital by helicopter. Now US alpine director Patrick Riml has given a new injury status on ORF.

“Mikaela is doing relatively well, considering the circumstances. Nothing major has happened, no broken bones, no torn ligaments,” he says. Nevertheless, Riml emphasized: “We have to be patient.” It is not yet clear when Shiffrin will be able to attack again. Possibly on February 10th and 11th in Soldeu.

“Take it one day at a time”

On Instagram, Shiffrin shared impressions with her followers that confirm that she is already feeling better. She appears radiant with her boyfriend Alexander Aamoft Kilde. The Norwegian crashed in Wengen and sustained serious injuries. Shiffrin wrote under a post with pictures of herself and Kilde: “I’m taking each day one step at a time! I can’t complain about the last few days.”

In addition to Shiffrin, Kilde’s mother, Kristina, also posted. She shared several photos of her son and wrote about his road to recovery: “Now as he begins the hard journey back, his optimism and smile warm our hearts.” Kristina Aamodt Kilde also thanked Mikaela Shiffrin and her family for their support.
