Mikaela Shiffrin interrupted again – not a single medal from Beijing

Mikaela Shiffrin set out to pursue several gold medals. However, no additional refill was added to the prize cabinet.

Alpine United, women

1. Michelle Gisin, Switzerland

2. Wendy Holdener, Switzerland +1.05

3. Federica Brignone, Italy +1.85

4. Ester Ledecka, Czech Republic +2.65

5. Katharina Huber, Austria +3.13

Mikaela Shiffrin is one of the most watched athletes at the Beijing Winter Games.

The 26-year-old queen of the alpine slopes set out from Beijing to pick up her already award-winning prize locker. There are, among other things, two Olympic victories and six world championships.

It was a dream. Five races produced zero medals. The perfect pancake was baked by an American skier in his last alpine combination, which gave rise to the third run of the Games.

Shiffrin is above all an expert in technology, but in Beijing he dropped out not only in the Alpine combined but also in slalom and grand slalom.

The pace sports are going well and he even made it to the finish line in Beijing. However, places 9 and 18 were almost unsatisfactory.

– This was a huge disappointment for me and the whole team. It’s a really big pity to disappoint anyone who wakes up early in my race. Especially today (in the Alpine United) I had a good chance of getting a good result, Shiffrin told the press disappointed.

– The medal would have been the salvation of these races, but now this feels like a big joke, Shiffrin said with a shaky voice.

The gold of the Alpine United Olympics was grabbed by Switzerland Michelle Gisin. Wendy Holdener secured a double victory for Switzerland.
