Deputy Henk Brink was nominated for the Best Driver category, but missed out on winning. He had to acknowledge his superior in mayor Petra Dassen-Housen of the municipality of Kerkrade.
In cooperation with research bureau Necker, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organizes the annual election of the Best Administrator. All local administrators, politicians, clerks and secretaries were approached for this election.
In the first round, they indicated who they thought excelled in the past year and why. In the second round, the public could choose from thirteen nominees for the title of Best Local Administrator: the best administrator and the best water board administrator from each province. In total, more than 13,000 votes were cast in this second round of voting, according to the organization.
