Does being born in a soil guarantee belonging?
“Being a patriot” seems like a phrase from yesteryear, which comes into force during World Cup soccer matches.
“Feeling part” is built in the history of the people, with leaders showing reliability and guarantee in their words, which are supported by their actions.
But if economic crises, insecurity, corruption and lies appear recurrently, little by little disbelief becomes the protagonist.
The ruling parties are changing, with models that promise to “save the situation.” But these words do not reflect the imminent new fall, like a “déjà vu” read in some history manual.
Faced with the sensation of “feeling trapped”, an Argentine saying resonates: “the only way out is Ezeiza (international Airport)”.
Farewell
“Chek in time”, gateway to a new stage.
Important people accompany you until the last moment, in a stir of mixed emotions, moistened with shed tears. Everyone merges into endless containment hugs, trying to “hold on to a little” of that loved one who is about to leave.
“Flights of illusion”
The plane takes off, shaking dreams and fears, in a cocktail tinged by the anxiety and uncertainty generated by stepping into the new world.
“Landing from the illusion”, when starting to walk the “foreignness”, from somewhere always hurts.
“Everything is safer here, and the fact that there is no inflation seems incredible, sometimes I feel tempted to bring an offer in case it increases. Maybe not everything is so easy, it’s strange.” “Would I come back despite missing it? No way, I’d rather stay here.”
Heartfelt Connections
An important tool that brings the country of origin closer is the connectivity via internetallowing you to feel “closeness in the face of so much distance”, sharing “rich virtual mates” with those important links.
It also enables you to begin or continue psychological treatments, which become essential to accompany those who need it, in this complex process of adaptation to this new life.
“Landing in the inner homeland”
In times of migratory flows, one suffers from the absence of those cultural roots with which one grows, the challenge being “build one’s own homeland in the inner world.
Building that involves renunciations and duels, gigantic growth in the face of unthinkable challenges, sustained by great effort.
At the same time, the first achievements appear, “pampering abroad”, fuel to continue forward.
Growing up is not easy, pursuing your dreams and achieving what you want takes effort, but it is possible.
Keep walking the world, dear migrants!
