MIDNIGHTS: Taylor Swift breaks Spotify record with new record

With MIDNIGHTS, Taylor Swift has set a new record for the most streamed album in 24 hours on Spotify.

Spotify does not present concrete figures for record success. It also remains unclear who held the record until MIDNIGHTS.

However, Swift was not always positive about Spotify: in 2014, Taylor Swift removed her works because she felt the remuneration for the musicians was unfair. They weren’t available there for three years, until they were uploaded again from one day to the next.

Taylor Swift is bursting with pride

On Saturday (October 22), Spotify tweeted: “And before the clock struck midnight on October 22, Taylor Swift broke the record for the most-streamed album in a single day in Spotify history. Congratulations @taylorswift13.” Taylor shared the tweet, saying, “How am I so lucky that you guys are out there doing something so amazing?! I mean, what just happened here??!?!”

“MIDNIGHTS” literally paralyzed Spotify

Before MIDNIGHTS set the new record, the record had temporarily paralyzed Spotify: A few minutes after MIDNIGHTS was released, a total of 7,844 disruptions in the use of the streaming provider were reported to the “Downdetector” website from the USA, according to the platform Bloomberg.com. Since Spotify had recently promoted Swift’s new record on Twitter, the disruptions could allegedly be traced back to it.

Shortly after the release of MIDNIGHTS, Taylor Swift surprised with a 3AM EDITION containing seven additional tracks. In addition, “Swifties”, as some fans of the musician call themselves, can look forward to video content for the new album. The musician already announced this on Instagram. The music video for “Anti-Hero” has already been released.
