After 20 years, Midnight Oil are releasing a new studio album with “RESIST”. The band also announced a concert tour to coincide with the album release. Midnight Oil will also take them to Germany for two concerts.
The band also announced that this would be their final tour. They made it clear that it would not mean the end of the Oils. But in the future they also want to concentrate on solo projects, but can still imagine being on stage together for projects that are worth supporting.
Midnight Oil and its Influence on Rock Music
The new album is already the 15th album by the band, which emerged from the Australian post-punk scene in 1978 and soon enjoyed worldwide success. Her song “Gadigal Land”, which was released only last year, was voted “Song of the Year” by the Australian record industry. And Midnight Oil’s 987 world hit “Beds Are Burning” even made it into the “500 Songs That Shaped Rock’n’Roll” according to the US Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame.
Midnight Oil last performed on the big stage in 2017, when the band returned after a 15-year hiatus for their Great Circle World Tour, which included 77 shows in 16 countries. The positive response from fans and critics led to further performances in Europe. A concert in the Australian outback in 2019 finally led to recording sessions during which the new record “RESIST” was created.
Now Midnight Oil are coming to Europe for the last time for some dates. In Germany the band will play two concerts in July. One in Berlin and one in Leipzig. The Germany concerts are presented by ROLLING STONE.
