Midfield exhibition will be held for the last time in its old form in Beilen next year

After five years, the Lanijto, better known as the Middenveld Exhibition, will return to Beilen next year. It is also the last time that the event will be held in its old form, the organization said. The intention is that it will then continue as a village festival of Beilen, which is held every three years.

The originally agricultural event was held alternately every year under the name Middenveld Exhibition in Hoogeveen, Ruinen, Zuidwolde, Westerbork and Beilen. The places that used to form the Middenveld thing game. The Lanijto has been organized for more than 130 years.

For various reasons, including a shortage of volunteers and a lack of a suitable location, this has not happened for a number of years. It was last organized in Beilen five years ago.

The latest edition in Beilen is organized by the Het Middenveld association, the municipality of Midden-Drenthe and Beleef Beilen. The Het Middenveld association will then cease to exist. “In recent years it has become increasingly difficult to get the organization going. That is why we have decided to stop the association,” says Ria Berghuis. “But not before we have organized this wonderful event one more time. We are going to make it an extra big party from May 29 to June 2.”
