Middenmeer will have 48 temporary homes for emergency seekers and status holders

The municipality of Hollands Kroon will build 48 temporary homes at Hoornseweg 13 in Middenmeer for emergency seekers, Ukrainian refugees and status holders. If everything goes according to plan, the homes will be there at the beginning of 2024.

The plans are still subject to the wishes and concerns of the city council.

The municipality indicates in a press release that the homes will be available for people who, for example, need a home urgently due to a divorce, but who do not qualify for urgent housing at the housing association. Also, a number of temporary reception facilities for Ukrainian refugees will soon come to an end, and the municipality of Hollands Kroon will not meet its task of receiving status holders.

Hoornweg

According to the municipality, the location on the Hoornseweg meets the requirements for the placement of temporary homes. The location can be used for about ten years for temporary housing, after which it could be used to build homes.

The municipality also indicates that the target for temporary homes with these 48 places has not been met. Because the municipality wants to prevent the pressure on one municipality from becoming too high, a suitable location is also being sought in other places.

Local residents

Local residents who have questions or concerns can attend an information meeting on 11 or 13 September. People have received an invitation to this by letter.

In addition to the temporary shelter, the municipality intends to build an additional 1,800 homes for starters, young people and the elderly by 2030.
