Microsoft’s takeover of Nuance officially complete

It is done. Microsoft announced on March 4 that it had completed the acquisition of Nuance, a 30-year-old voice recognition specialist. The operation is valued at 19.7 billion dollars and should allow the American giant to develop numerous strategic positions.

The procedure started in April 2021. Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, then recalled the importance of artificial intelligence for professionals, specifically in health, in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic. However, such a rapprochement could not pass under the radar of international bodies. It was only at the end of the year that the European Commission gave the green light for Nuance to go under the Microsoft flag. However, the United Kingdom had expressed some reservations at the same time, asking for an investigation. The latter is now complete and the British antitrust body has given its approval.
