The context is this: there is a real shortage of cybersecurity talent. This is why Microsoft has decided to unveil “an ambitious plan to raise awareness of cybersecurity issues and strengthen IT security skills in France”. The American giant launches a new school and several training plans to train future professionals in the sector. In France, there are today 15,000 vacancies and unfilled positions in the field of cybersecurity.

Microsoft conducted a study to understand if this subject was really a problem for French companies. The results show that 52% of respondents see protection against targeted attacks as their top IT priority. 70% of them plan to increase their spending on cybersecurity. 64% of companies surveyed indicate that they are already doing education and raising awareness with their employees on cybersecurity.

Microsoft is committed to the youngest

Corine de Bilbao, President of Microsoft France, specifies that with this nationwide training plan, “We aim to train 10,000 new professionals by 2025, and intend to strengthen the skills of professionals in the sector through our continuing education programs. This year, already 10,000 of them have been affected by these programs, which are essential at a time when the number of cyberattacks is increasing”.

For high school students, Microsoft is also launching a campaign to raise awareness of the challenges and professions of cybersecurity in the form of an educational kit called “Cybersecurity, my future profession”. A guide produced by Microsoft cybersecurity experts that aims to to give basic advice to guard against attacksbut also to introduce young people to the different professions in the sector while sweeping away the ideas received about these professions.

According to Jérôme Notin, CEO of cybermalveillance.gouv.fr, believes that this initiative is an excellent idea. “make future talents want to join the cybersecurity professions”. Microsoft also plans to train job seekers (a hundred during the first year).
