Micky van de Ven makes his debut in the Orange squad

Micky van de Ven is in the final selection of the Dutch national team for the first time. National coach Ronald Koeman has called up the 22-year-old defender from Wormer for the international matches against Greece and Ireland. Ajax player Steven Berghuis was not part of the provisional selection, but is also part of the selection corps.

These are good weeks for Van de Ven, as he recently left for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League for 50 million euros. The defender has been in the pre-selection for the 2022 World Cup before, but has never officially joined the Orange squad.

Remarkably enough, Berghuis is the only Ajax player who has called up national coach Koeman. Brian Brobbey and Steven Bergwijn were in the pre-selection, but have dropped out. Bergwijn was injured at Ajax-Ludogorets yesterday. There are no players from AZ in the selection. Former AZ player Tijjani Reijnders is part of the final selection.
