For the second year in a row, Mick Schumacher is starting the season as a test and reserve driver for Mercedes. The 24-year-old has not lost his self-confidence.
Mick Schumacher continues to hope for a return to Formula 1 and is expecting a lot from the upcoming driver market at the end of next season. The contracts of 14 of the 20 Formula 1 drivers are expiring.
“It could play into my hands that the driver market is already quite active and that it will continue to increase in the coming months. A lot will happen. There will not only be changes in the teams’ cockpits, but possibly also the end of a “two drivers their careers,” the 24-year-old told “Sport Bild”.
“I know I have skills”
Michael Schumacher’s son still believes in his abilities for the premier class of motorsport. “I know I have the skills for it. I’m good enough,” he said. “I showed that in Formula 4, Formula 3 and Formula 2. The fact that I won races and championships is quickly forgotten. I proved that in addition to driving, I can also handle pressure. And that’s how different the formula is 1 not.”
Schumacher will again be a test and reserve driver for Mercedes next season. He also competes in endurance races for the French Alpine team and also takes part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
