Mick Jagger makes fun of Berlin Airport BER

22,000 spectators celebrated the end of the European part of the Rolling Stones’ “Sixty” tour in Berlin. A memorable performance, which the band deliberately chose as a reminder of the 1965 riot performance.

At that time the gig had to be stopped after 20 minutes because the rioting could no longer be controlled. The Stones had lost their reputation. The forest stage was basically dismantled by the angry spectators. Unlike back then, the Stones’ performances today are almost wellness for the listeners, who naturally come to see one of the best live bands alive. And you can also count on the British humor of the Stones.

Keith Richards, referring to the chaotic concert: “It’s always something very special to be here in Berlin. You never know what’s going to happen…”

With a little more mischief in his neck, Mick Jagger chatted with the audience in pretty crumbling German. He praised Berlin currywurst with a shot. Means: with peppermint liqueur (also known as “Berliner Luft”). Jagger: “After five Schnapsen my German was perfect.”

And then there was also a nice dig at Berlin Airport, which took far too long to build and ended up being many times more expensive. Paid for by the taxpayer, of course. Jagger smugly: “What a bargain at 7 BILLION euros.”

The 79-year-old also raved about the “9-Euro-Ticket” with which he drove through the city (which in turn was hardly recognizable on Instagram, where he underpinned his visit to the city with a photo in front of the Brandenburg Gate) and when A self-confessed Shakespeare fan, he concluded the Stones’ big, possibly even last, party with the words: “It was a midsummer night’s dream. Such a great evening.”
