In 2015, Descheemaeker became the youngest ship ever in Zonnebeke. He was elected from an N-VA list and was responsible for, among other things, Spatial Planning and the Environment. In 2023, Descheemaeker moved from Ypres to Roeselare.
With his fifth place, he now has a chance to stand up for Vlaams Belang in Parliament. He wants to work for farmers, among other things. Reforms within the justice system are also among his priorities. For example, he advocates justice within a reasonable period and the actual execution of sentences.
House list leader Wouter Vermeersch is enthusiastic about the arrival of Descheemaeker. “In Descheemaeker we are bringing in someone who has enormous ambition and capabilities,” says Vermeersch. “With his legal background and local policy experience, he is a great addition to our West Flemish team.”
