From 2024, the Michelin Guide will introduce a separate award to rate hotels. Director Gwendal Poullennec announced this.
Michelin’s hotel selection will therefore become more similar to the system traditionally used for restaurants. An important distinction: Michelin will not hand out stars to hotels, but will hand out keys. The design of the keys will be reminiscent of the well-known Michelin stars.
In this way, the French group wants to become “a real reference of reliability” in the hotel sector, it says.
Michelin’s revised hotel selection will recommend more than 5,000 hotels in 120 different countries. The list of awarded hotels will be announced in the first half of next year. An exact date has not yet been set.
