Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund went 2-5 (1-3) in their home stadium against Bayer Leverkusen on the last 21st matchday. BVB sports director Michael Zorc does not want to see such a bad performance in the future. But the upcoming opponent will by no means be a sure-fire success.
BVB must make amends – of all places at the old forester’s house of 1. FC Union Berlin. The capital city ranks not only in fourth place and are therefore within striking distance of second-placed Borussia. The Köpenickers were also able to win their only two home games against the Revierklub.
In addition, the three points are extremely important in the fight for the Champions League positions. If BVB also gives these points to a direct competitor, the field of Bayern pursuers moves closer and closer together. Before the game, however, the cushion is still a comfortable nine points.
Sports director Michael Zorc reminds his recently disappointing BVB stars of that difficult starting position. “We have to keep at it now, especially since Union is a direct competitor for the Champions League places and we lost the last two away games there against Union,” said the 59-year-old.image“: “We should know what to expect at the Alte Försterei.”
Zorc expects a “reaction” from BVB
BVB won the first leg 4-2 (2-0). The two-time goalscorer Erling Haaland is missing again from the team of head coach Marco Rose. The Norwegian has not yet been able to train with the team after recovering from a thigh injury.
Meanwhile, it’s also important for Michael Zorc that his players show a different face than against the Werkself: “After the performance against Leverkusen, I expect a reaction and a different attitude.”
The local BVB fans were also bitterly disappointed and announced this with whistles in the Signal Iduna Park. A victory at Union Berlin could quickly calm things down again.
