Due to the absence of the Big Three, Michael Vanthourenhout immediately seized his opportunity. Vanthourenhout from Wingene only needed an acceleration to shake off the rest. He quickly built up a lead of 20 seconds ahead of pursuers Mason, Wyseure and Nys.
Cameron Mason was able to break free from the two young Belgians and take second place. Wyseure and Nys had to fight it out for third place. The 22-year-old rider from Lichtervelde beat Thibau Nys for third place. Clerk Gianni Vermeersch finished seventh.
