Michael Vanthourenhout solos to victory in…

It was Toon Aerts’ younger brother, Thijs Aerts, who made the best start. Iserbyt then took over command and a little later Vanthourenhout took the lead. The European champion started the second round with a 3-second lead over a group including Iserbyt, Wyseure, Van der Haar and the Aerts brothers.

Iserbyt held up this chasing group several times so that teammate Vanthourenhout could continue to expand his lead. Going into the fourth round, the European champion had a 25-second lead. Wyseure single-handedly pursued Vanthourenhout.

Toon Aerts then had a hard time and had to leave a gap on Wyseure, Vandebosch and Iserbyt. When the pace slowed down for those men, Toon Aerts was able to reconnect, with Van der Haar on his wheel. The latter zoomed away from the bottom with Iserbyt and Wyseure in the hunt for second place.

Iserbyt got rid of Wyseure in the final round. Toon Aerts and Van der Haar joined Wyseure and the three were allowed to sprint for the final podium place. The Dutchman was slightly stronger than Toon Aerts in this regard.

The European champion thus achieved his fourth victory of the season after the European championship in Pontchâteau, Gullegem and Zonnebeke.
