Cross started strong. He immediately kept his own leg and broke Van Gerwen immediately afterwards. Cross almost cashed in on that break, he only missed double-19 on a 158 finish. Van Gerwen took Cross’ leg with a 100th finish. He threw it out through tops-tops. Still, the Dutchman was not of much use, because he then surrendered his own leg again: 3-1 for Cross.
Cross let Van Gerwen escape in his favor at a 4-2 score. The Englishman was able to increase the gap again to three legs, only he missed three arrows on a double. With tops-tops again, Van Gerwen then made it 4-4.
At 5-5 Van Gerwen squeezed out a superior leg. As a result, the advantage suddenly lay with the Dutchman. The world class dripped off in the last legs and Cross was unable to catch up with Van Gerwen. As a result, Van Gerwen won a tournament in the Euro Tour for the first time since April 2019.
