Funeral assistant has recently been added to the list of shortage professions. But VRT journalist Michaël Van Droogenbroeck (44) already dreamed about a job as a funeral director as a child. He regularly assists in a local funeral home and talks farewell ceremonies together. “You can learn to lay out, but the moment the family sees their loved one again is much more touching.”
