The paths of assistant coach Michael Reiziger and Ajax will separate after this season. The 72-time international has said in an interview with AD that he has the ambition to become a head coach.
The now 49-year-old Reiziger went through the youth academy of the team from Amsterdam and celebrated great successes in the mid-1990s in the team of coach Louis van Gaal that won the Champions League and the World Cup. He made 60 appearances in the first team.
After Ajax, Reiziger played football for AC Milan, Barcelona, Middlesbrough and PSV. In 2017 he returned to Amsterdam and became Traveler trainer of Jong Ajax. With the reserves team he became Reiziger champion of the first division. In recent years, Reiziger has been an assistant with the first team.
