THE2022 is undoubtedly the year of collaborations between brands and stylists. Style encounters that give life to collections, capsule collections, limited editions. Never fortuitous, often unexpected: like the one between Michael Kors and Ellesse, whose fruit – Michael Kors x ellessea collection in 24 pieces for him and her – arrives on May 9 in stores and online around the world.
Common ground, the glamor
What unites the American designer par excellence and the Italian sports brand, popular in the seventies and eighties? First, the common field of glamor. Reiterated by the countrysidewhich sees the top and influencer as protagonist Emily RatajkowskiBrooklyn rapper Jay Critch and a super cool cast of musicians, models and multi-hyphenates.
Taken a You love me by photographer Lachlan Bailey on a Tennis court – and where else – fully refers to the aesthetics of the brand founded in Perugia in 1959 by Leonardo Servadio, from whose initials Ellesse took its name.
Initially specialized in ski clothing, in 1980, when the women’s tennis internationals were moved from Rome to Perugia, he became the official sponsor of the tournament and began to “play” tennis, dressing the most famous female champions, such as Chris Evert and Boris Becker. And it is precisely this winning period for the brand that Michael Kors embraces in advertising and in the collection, presented with a glamorous party in London from Upstairs at Langan’s, in the heart of Mayfair, on May 4th. Present, all the influencers that matter, from Elsa Hosk to Amelia and Eliza Spencer, grandchildren of the famous Diana, to Heidi Klum’s daughter, Leni.
An athleisure collection with a double charm
If Ellesse’s story ended in 1993, when the company was sold to the English holding Pentland Group, the match with Michael Kors and his team of cool players – friends and testimonials of the house – bring it back straight to the style carpet. A double game in the athleisure field, characterized by 24 pieces for him and for her that mix and integrate the logo MK is the half tennis ball with Ellesse stylized skis. Modern and retro, luxury and sport, for a collection with a double charm, Double right from the inspiration, where the bold colors of the Italian brand – orange, red, blue and white – dress the sporty-chic pieces of the second line of the American fashion house.
