According to a media report, Michael Burke could soon take over the management of the fashion division of the luxury goods group LVMH.
In January, Michael Burke gave up his position as general manager of the Louis Vuitton brand and was to take on “new responsibilities” at parent company LVMH. Since then, he has reported directly to CEO Bernard Arnault, whose potential successor has been making headlines for a long time. Burke is now considered the front runner in the race to head LVMH’s fashion division, industry magazine Miss Tweed reported on Sunday. LVMH declined to comment on the reports when asked by FashionUnited.
In his role as Managing Director of LVMH Fashion Group, whose portfolio of brands includes Louis Vuitton, Celine, Kenzo and Loewe, Burke would succeed current CEO Sidney Toledano. Toledano has held the role since 2018 and has also been President of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture since November 2022. According to the report, should a change take place, he will continue to advise Bernard Arnault and oversee some of the group’s brands.
The past few months have brought some changes in the management team of the luxury goods group. Pietro Beccari, who has headed Christian Dior Couture since 2018, moved to the helm of French fashion house Louis Vuitton. Bernard Arnault’s daughter Delphine Beccari then took over the previous post. This change was interpreted by some observers as a step by Bernard Arnault to initiate his successor without giving up the reins.
