Michael Burke becomes head of the fashion houses

Michael Burke has been appointed to the role of CEO of LVMH Fashion Group.

Burke succeeds Sidney Toledano, who has held the role since 2018 and will now serve as an advisor to Bernard Arnault, CEO of parent LVMH Group, the French luxury goods group said on Thursday. These changes will come into effect on February 1st.

Burke and Toledano swap roles

There have been rumors about Burke’s promotion since last April, after he resigned from his previous position as CEO of the group’s fashion house Louis Vuitton in January 2023. He was succeeded by former Dior boss Pietro Beccari. From then on, Burke – like his predecessor – was active as an advisor to Arnault. It is now clear that from next month he will head the fashion division, which, in addition to Louis Vuitton and Dior, also includes brands such as Kenzo, Celine, Fendi and Givenchy.

“Under his leadership, Louis Vuitton became the largest and most prestigious fashion house in the world. He placed culture at the center of his creative vision and development,” said Arnault. “His extensive experience and passion for craftsmanship and creativity will be invaluable to sustain and further accelerate the dynamic growth of the LVMH Fashion Group Maisons.”
