“Mi Amor” by Sofia Portanet

Indie-pop newcomer Sofia Portanet releases her current single “Mi Amor”: With the feel-good track, Portanet processed disappointments in love and hopes to be able to encourage her listeners with it. ROLLING STONE today exclusively presents the music video for the song.

With “Freier Geist” the debut album of the 32-year-old musician was released in July 2020. Portanet grew up as the daughter of a German father and a Spanish father in Paris. So it’s no wonder that the record included not only German titles, but also those in English and French. In late 2021, the singer surprised everyone with the hit “Real Face,” a pop song about vulnerability and showing your true colors.

The “summer anthem” is intended to encourage people

“Mi Amor”, which translates as “My Love”, is now set to arrive as a happy “summer indie pop anthem”, but at the same time convey a deeper message. “It’s about love, disappointment and breaking out of toxic and dishonest relationships and standing up for yourself,” the singer-songwriter says. The song would have helped her “to overcome the pain”, so she hopes the track can also give courage to others. “The world is full of beautiful people, find someone who’s good for you,” Portanet advises her fans, adding encouragingly, “Because baby, don’t forget, you’re worth so much more!”

Portanet presents itself as a pop diva

The video shows Portanet as a glamorous pop diva in a glittering gold dress. With red lips and statement earrings, she presents herself as a self-confident woman who can move in the limelight. But she can also be seen in her everyday look next to a young man who, with his smartphone in his hand, hardly seems to be interested in her. In a club, surrounded by dancing people, she then sings about not wanting to waste her love anymore.

At the end of the year, Portanet goes on tour and rocks German clubs from November to December. She also recently covered Hildegard Knef’s “For me it’s supposed to rain red roses” for ROLLING STONE.
