Ferhat Gündoğdu, President of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Central Referee Board (MHK), said that their biggest goal in the second half of the Spor Toto Super League is to increase the time the ball stays in play.
Speaking at the official opening of the 2021-2022 Season MHK Hilmi Ok Winter Seminar held at the TFF Hasan Doğan National Teams Camp and Training Facilities in Riva and the FIFA badge wearing ceremony, Gündoğdu said, “I would like to remind you that it is a great responsibility to keep the memories of our veteran teachers like Hilmi Ok alive. It is on everyone’s shoulders to reflect this responsibility on the field. The common goal of everyone in this hall is to increase the enjoyment of football. Football is just a game, but it has now become an industry. As such, the work of everyone who is a stakeholder in football has begun to be scrutinized. In this, the greatest responsibility rests with the referees. We see.” used the phrases.
Regarding the goals of the second half of the Super League, the President of the MHK said, “We will discuss our shortcomings and mistakes in the first half. We will turn our measurable and result-oriented goals into individual goals and hand them over to the referees. Our biggest goal in the second half is to keep the ball in the game, which is 53 minutes 38 seconds. “We are all aware of how far this average is behind Europe. We just want to do our part.” made a statement.
Ferhat Gündoğdu stated that the current procedures have not progressed very far and said, “We all see that this is a transformation. You also realize how this transformation has come to life. We are aware that you have noticed the biggest example with the Turkish football refereeing working group that the TFF has recently started. We as MHK We are also contributing to this working group. With the valuable chairman and representatives of the working group, Mr. David Ellery, we are moving forward with his evaluations and guidance. We already feel many gains. As MHK, we can say that we have gained in the way of generating a common mind for problems. At the same time, when we look at the issues conveyed to the working group, we are making progress. “We see that we need to empathize. This brings us the obligation to cooperate.” he said.
Expressing that the common goal of the football community is to increase the brand value of football, Gündoğdu said:
“As referees, we are making a great effort, we prefer to do it in scientific ways based on the principles of transparency and accountability. We focused on using all the data related to refereeing in the best way. We have progressed through performance analysis and measurable criteria in our goals in the second half. We shared this with esteemed club presidents, I think this is the first time we have been in office. While we were trying to complete our leagues in the best way possible, we also tried to implement important projects in the transformation process. I can list the most important ones as follows: VAR will be implemented in the 1st League next year, 17′ We started the AVAR 2 application as of the 17th week, to bring our friends with VAR certificates into the VAR room as of the second week and to raise the awareness of all our friends about VAR. We have included 10 new referee friends in the 1st League squad. Our aim is to create a competitive environment for the current squad. was to build and expand the staff.”
“We started to create the Refereeing Management System, which we call HYS, by collecting all the data related to the refereeing system under the roof of TFF.” MHK President said:
“After this database is created, no matter what manager comes, it will maintain a sustainable system. Just like in real life, zero mistakes are almost impossible in football. However, our main goal is to learn from mistakes and contribute to the system with the least amount of mistakes. We attach importance to cooperation, the first thing we ask from you is “Continue the approach and support you showed us halfway through. This approach gives us morale. We will have no further demands from you. Neither the strongest nor the smartest survive, it is the one who adapts to change the most.”
At the ceremony, a plaque was presented to Alparslan Ok, son of Hilmi Ok, whose name was given to the seminar, and Halil Umut Meler, who was promoted to the UEFA Elite Category, was presented with a plaque. TFF President Nihat Özdemir wore the cockade of Zorbay Küçük, who was entitled to receive the FIFA badge for the first time.
