Mexican president calls for free Bad Bunny concert

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has asked rapper Bad Bunny to give a free concert in Mexico City. The singer performed in the capital last weekend. Despite tickets, many fans were unable to attend.

Ticketmaster was responsible for the sale and says counterfeit tickets bought through other vendors caused the problems. In addition, the staff was confused because there were also problems with the ticket scanners. The Mexican consumer advice center accuses Ticketmaster of selling counterfeit tickets via its website and thus intentionally selling too many tickets. The platform rejects the allegations.

“It was very emotional to see sad young people who couldn’t go to the concert because they were cheated,” Obrador said at a press conference. “They have been saving for a long time to be able to buy their tickets.” He added that while the government cannot pay the artist, it would pay production costs if he did a concert.

Bad Bunny ended his world tour with the concert in Mexico City. So far he has not commented on the matter. It’s not the first ticket disaster for Ticketmaster – in November, the service provider had to cancel advance sales for Taylor Swift’s “The Eras” tour.
