The goal remains the Premier League
Full-back Thomas Meunier, who was sidelined by runners-up Borussia Dortmund, has clearly denied reports of an impending move to former club Bruges. The 31-year-old, whose contract with Westphalia ends next summer, is aiming for the Premier League and, despite the lack of playing time, only wants to leave BVB if there is an offer that is interesting for him.

The Belgian only made ten appearances in the league last season due to injury. It’s no secret that the Bundesliga club no longer plans with Meunier. The player himself now said in an interview with the newspaper “La Dernière Heure“, that with a view to the contract period, a departure “at this point in time would be in the interest of everyone involved”.
The right-footed player switched from Paris to the Black and Yellows on a free transfer in 2020, has played 75 competitive games (three goals) since then and won the DFB Cup with Borussia in 2021.

“Borussia will be ready to talk if a club is interested in a transfer. If I can’t find anything better than Dortmund, I won’t go for fun. The club knows that,” continued Meunier, who, according to information from the “Ruhr news“A yearly salary of around 8.5 million euros. He would be willing to lose if he liked the challenge.
The focus of the 62-time national player is on the English Premier League, engagements in Spain, Italy or Portugal could “tempt” him. When specifically asked about a possible future in England, Meunier stated: “The league is still one of my goals and I’ve already had contact with a few clubs.”
However, the professional reacted to the agreement with his ex-club FC Bruges, which was recently reported in reports, with a clear denial: “No, I will not return to Bruges. I never got a call from there.”
