In Meulebeke, the traditional New Year’s reception took place in OC De Vondel. Next year Meulebeke will merge with Tielt. The residents still feel like Meulebeken residents. “No goodbye. We remain Meulebeken residents and we support Tielt,” said municipal councilor Bernard De Marez.
The merger with Wingene is also still a source of discussion in Ruiselede. Outgoing mayor Greet De Roo calls on the residents of Ruiselede to cooperate. “Not everyone agrees with the merger, but if we transform all the negative energy into positive energy, this can be a beautiful story.”
