Meteorologist Kerttu Kotakorpi tells now In an interview with Ilta-Sanomi of their ethical values, which can be seen both when traveling in traffic and when shopping for food. Kotakorpi does not eat meat, and when he goes to the store, he especially avoids buying two foods.

– I rarely buy cheese or other animal products or rice at home. Cultivating rice produces a lot of methane emissions, so I’d rather choose potatoes, he tells IS.

Kotakorpi said in March of this year that he would stop doing TV news weather broadcasts. He said he was taking a year-long break. The favorite meteorologist makes a new territorial conquest when he is seen as a host in Yle’s new climate-related TV series. The topic is important to him.

– Climate change is currently the world’s most important issue requiring action. I strive to do something for my part, Kotakorpi said in an interview with Iltalehti in 2022.

Kotakorpi has worked at Yle since 2012. He previously worked as a meteorologist for television channel Nelonen. Kotakorpi has written two books: Finnish nature 2100 and My naturei, the latter of which was published in September.
