Metal festival Alcatraz in Kortrijk starts

Kortrijk Drumt kicks off

Last night the festival already organized a pre-opening for the campers and local residents. And they were welcomed by ‘Kortrijk Drumt’.

Au grand complete, because they came to the festival field of Alcatraz Open Air with more than 100 drummers. The first groups of metal fans are therefore welcomed to a percussion concert by ‘Kortrijk Drumt’.

After the royal stunt in Brussels, ‘Kortrijk Drumt’ is suddenly very popular. And that gives the drummers a boost, says Gino Kesteloot: ”

It is more than 33 degrees flat in the sun here. It’s impossible, huh. Look, I’m refreshing myself a little. This is my first pint. But we are very proud that we can experience all those things. I hear from the drummers that it gets better and better.

“

Beuk from Bruges opens the festival

Beuk, the metal band from Bruges, can open the evening in the Swamp with Dutch hard rock and that in itself is exceptional.

Singer Roel Jacobus: ” For us, that is nothing more and nothing less than a dream come true. We grew out of performing in the cafes, on small stages; and to be able to stand here on such a big stage after a few years, that’s fantastic .”
