Metal band made from endangered species celebrates its premiere

Bands with animal names like The Beatles, The Animals or Band Of Horses are nothing new. But bands made of animals? The Growling Creatures are exactly that. Their songs are intended to draw attention to endangered species at Wacken Open Air in August. The proceeds from music distribution and band T-shirts are to go to the German Nature Conservation Union.

The members of the Growling Creatures are a gray seal, a brown hare, a wisent (European bison) and a great gray shrike (bird species the size of a blackbird). You already have one together EP released with three songs. You can hear Death Metal, Metalcore and Melodic Death Metal with animal sounds instead of singing. Music videos already exist.

“Conservation and sustainability are also important topics for us as organizers, which also find approval in the metal community,” said Wacken co-founder Thomas Jensen in a statement. Species protection is important for the entire environment.

Judas Priest, Slipknot and Limp Bizkit

There is good news for all those who are really looking forward to the Growling Creatures. The band will also be at the Wacken Open Air. Officials say they will complement the line-up on all stages of the W:O:A with their songs and videos.

Wacken Open Air will take place from August 4th to 6th, 2022 with Judas Priest, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, As I Lay Dying and many more.
